After using stock Fox seals on my fork for about one year I decided to try those pretty blue seals from Enduro.
The price is identical to stock Fox. Enduro seal kit consists of three parts: foam ring, oil seal ring and wiper ring. Here is one difference because Fox seals consists only of two parts: foam ring and wiper/oil seal ring, so Enduro parts only have one function for each part Installing Enduro seals is a bit tricky and need some skills and strength to do it in comparison with fox seals, but if we follow the instructions it´s easy to install.
Break-in time is longer on Enduro seals as they are tighter and more rigid than Fox seals. After break-in time the Enduros still have a bit more resistance than Fox ones, but they do their job in a flawless way.
Since Enduros are more tight, stanchion lubrification is needed more often. For that I use teflon dry lube before each ride. Just pour some drops on stanchions, spread the oil with fingers, compress fork 2-3 times, wipe excess and it´s done.
Maintenance times are extended due to a less inside contamination. Since Fox seals allow a little bit more stanchion play so I´ve experienced a more buttery smooth work with Fox seals than with Enduro seals, but the lube oil gets grater longevity with the blue ones.
For the past two years the Enduro seals on my Fox 36 experienced all kinds of dust, mud, snow, etc, and still do their job like day one. The wiper still let´s the stanchion shiny in one passage and the fork oil takes more time inside, so service time intervals are longer. The only downside is the work resistance, which is more noticeable in my fork since I use the hard spring no it. In general the fork works very good but in small bump compression is noticeable a little more friction, but nothing that compromises normal fork functioning.
- Better oil sealing
- Wiper longevity
- Less stanchion side play
- Longer service time intervals
- Installation a bit tricky compared to Fox seals
- More stanchion lube needed
- More resistance to stanchion work
Enduro fork seals for Fox 36 forks are a good upgrade if you don´t care too much about ultra-smooth buttery work and want a “fit and forget” seal that do a great job and lasts more than stock ones.
