The year 2011 was coming to an end and I decided to go on a family holidays to the south. After a 4 hours drive finally we arrived at Portimão where Nuno and his family were expecting us for lunch and a nice walk with the ocean by our side.
Day 2 (6.30 am) – bikes on the roof top of the Citroen Saxo, next stop was the top of the mountain with one quick stop to pickup Tiago, damn it was cold on the top! time to go down. What I found was one of the most complete enduro tracks i’ve ever ridden, starting with a technical rocky section and followed by some flat turns at high speed it was madly insane but more was to come, the down sections of the track were even more enjoyable passing on agriculture fields and switchbacks covered with leaves before hitting a speed jump on off camber mode!! insane in one word!
After spending the morning riding it was time to devote some attention to the family and the usual conversation of subjects other than bikes, not so easy!!
Day 3 – (6.30 am, again) – with the company of Simão we decided to spend the morning filming and taking photos, time well spent (and you’ll see why), it was a nice way to see which were the faster lines and the cleanest ones. The view is incredible and with the weather conditions on our side we captured some nice footages on camera.
watching this just makes want to pack my things again and drive south
day 4 – last day on the hill! 6.30 out of bed , 8.30 the first ride! I went with Simão enjoying the sun in our faces and the frozen air in the hands.
On the second descent I went with Nuno that put his mind on a power run… with a time of 27 minutes we covered the 9km distance and he still had to stop waiting for me! I went down again!! in the first day I was knocked out by a fence, this time I was too fast on the berms!
what a nice way to end the year!!
below you can find some more photos, have a look.
