The first round of the Enduro Series – French Enduro Cup 2012 took place last weekend at Samoens. As some could expect after the great performance already show on Superenduro Pro rd3, Nicolas Vouilloz took the win; on womens side it was less competitive as Tracy Moseley had no real opponents capable to fight for the win. Have a look below all the details as provided by Enduro Tribe (the series organizer).
1st round of the Enduro Series / French Enduro Cup – Samoens
300 riders turned up last week-end in the packed resort of Samoens, to battle for the first round of the Enduro Series – French Enduro Cup 2012. Under a bright sunshine, they’ve discovered the Haut-Savoie resort and its damp forest sections. 8 runs on 4 different stages on the week-end program; a perfect mix of physical and technical skills for this national race level. Alex Balaud and the local track builders raised the level very high by offering technical, physical and varied stages, in postal card surroundings between Samoens and Morillon. All the ingredients to put a big smile on the 202 riders who finished the week-end and to get a good start of this season.
Nicolas VOUILLOZ and Tracy MOSELEY dominate the battle
At the end of the first race day, Nicolas VOUILLOZ (Lapierre) puts already more than 1m20s all the rest of the field. Behind him, six riders, lead by Olivier Giordanengo (Tribe sport group-Yeti) who scored the best time at the 3rd run, are inside 30 seconds. A good fight is expected for the second race day to get a podium finish. Nicolas VOUILLOZ would get scared a bit on the first Sunday morning run as he lost his entire lead when his chain broke. A run later, he got again a 30s lead, that proves his spite and form at the minute! The podium would definitely be known after the last run as 4 riders were inside 12 seconds for the 2nd place. And it’s finally Rémy ABSALON (Commencal) who took the spot, in front of François BAILLY-MAITRE (SCOTT), Florent NICOLAÏ (New way nice) and Olivier GIODANENGO. These 4 riders are inside 23 seconds after more than 1h 40min of cumulated time.
For the girls, Tracy MOSELEY (TMO-Trek) largely dominated this first round in Samoens by winning every run of the week-end. Behind her was tighter and the girls couldn’t afford any mistakes to get on the podium. Estelle VUILLEMIN (IRWRGO-Commencal) would gain few seconds on the second day but it wasn’t enough to overtake Anaïs PAJOT (Win bike-Specialized).
Jordan Navaro (Orange-Pro bike shop) took the win for the junior category and Yannick Senechal (Santa cruz-MIA) for the Masters.
The game is in place now to live a good 2012 season. Next week-end in Val d’Allos, we should meet again the same riders, including Nico Vouilloz who could now be thinking about the final win?! Following his nice lines, we’ll find for sure Rémy Absalon, a real favorite this year in the absence of Jérôme Clémentz, who will come occasionally to disturb the game, as he will this week-end on the Haut-Verdon valley tracks. Behind them, the race for the podium is as uncertain and open as always for a dozen riders. See you next Saturday for the 10th Val d’Allos – Tribe 10000.
